Do you need a website?
read more about Web v. Traditional advertising
Your center absolutely needs a web site - and probably more than one. Over 69% of Americans are using the Internet for information and 80% of your target client audience (ages 18-24) is Internet savvy. With labels like Y-Gen or Net-Gen, people who need your services are more likely to Google you than to pick up the Yellow Pages. The investment that the Yellow Pages is making in their Internet Yellow Pages (IYP) offerings and the current jockeying for position that BIG companies are doing in that market should be proof positive that people are looking for you online. There's also evidence that an older generation is catching up and abandoning the big yellow book when they want information. That means, your supporters want to find a website, too.
When your client is looking for help with an unplanned pregnancy - will she find YOU or will she find other online influences? When potential supporters are looking for ways to offer assistance - will they find YOU - or another cause to support? When people considering giving grant money look for you, what will they find?
Getting a website shouldn't be a quesiton in your center anymore. At this point, it should be "which one do I want." Your center's website should be a pivotal piece of your marketing plan and every other marketing initiative your center takes should be designed to drive traffic to your website or in your door.
